Henry Porter, IIHenry Porter, II, born in Sarasota, played drums at 18 months and wrote his first song at five. He sang with the Westcoast Gospel Chorus of Florida, The HLP Love Campaign®, and the Sarasota Youth Opera. Henry attended Fisk Universitywhere hewas one of the first freshmen to travel with the Grammy-nominated Fisk University Jubilee Singers. After graduation, he returned to Sarasota to pursue a career as a counselor. He soon realized that his heart and talents were better satisfied in ministry and began working with his father, Bishop H.L. Porter. Currently, Henry is assistant pastor of the Westcoast Center, and serves as vice-president of theHenry L. Porter Evangelistic Association, Incorporated.

Henry works with troubled youth, using his musical talent as a tool to lead, inspire, and send a powerful message to, "always be the best you can be." As director of The Assembly of the Young and Gifted(TAY&G), he wrote "Jesu Christo", a song released on the Youth and Young Adults Albumfor the National Convention of Gospel Choirs and Choruses as the 2005 Song of the Year.This talented songwriter and vocalist has done studio work and background vocals for country and gospel stars, such as Michael McDonald, Dr. Bobby Jones, Wyclef Jean, Ben Tankard, Yolanda Adams, Shania Twain, Take 6, Pastor Shirley Caesar, Bishop Walter Hawkins, and Kirk Franklin. Henry's music was featured in WBTT'sproduction of Black Nativity and he has appeared in WBTT's The Cotton Club Revue I and II, A Raisin in the Sun, and The Amen Corner.
