SARASOTA, FL – On Sunday, June 14 and Monday, June 15, from 1:00-9:00pm, Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe will hold auditions for its 2015-2016 season. Auditions will take place at the WBTT Theatre (1646 10th Way, Sarasota).

Actors are asked to prepare two contrasting monologues, one comedic and one dramatic, of three minutes or less. Singers are asked to be ready with 16 bars of one song, up-tempo or ballad, and one monologue of three minutes or less. 

Callbacks will be the same day; performers are asked to bring extra attire that is comfortable for learning choreography. All candidates must bring four copies of their professional headshot and resume either stapled together or printed two-sided; photocopies are acceptable. Singers should bring sheet music in the correct key, with the beginning and ending noted for the accompanist.

The 2015-2016 season includes “The Color Purple” (Oct. 17 – Nov. 21, 2015); “A Motown Christmas” (Dec. 5-31, 2015); “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” (Jan. 16 – Feb. 20, 2016); “The Sam Cooke Story” (March 5 – April 9, 2016); and “Driving Miss Daisy” (April 23 – May 28, 2016).
