Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe is grateful for the generosity of our donors. We couldn’t do everything we do without their support. You can join them in a variety of ways – from individual gifts to corporate partnerships to in-kind donations.
Donation Opportunities
How to Support Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe
Stock Donations
Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe gladly accepts gifts of stocks and securities. Donating appreciated securities is a great way to maximize your individual giving and avoid capital gains taxes.
Individual Retirement Account (IRA) Qualified Charitable Distribution
You can make a tax-free charitable donation directly from your IRA through with a Qualified Charitable Distribution if you are at least 70½ years old. This gift avoids federal income tax and can also help satisfy your required minimum distribution (RMD) for the year. The distribution must be made directly from your IRA to a qualified 501(c)(3) charity like WBTT.
Donor-Advised Funds
One of the simplest ways you can support Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe – or any 501(c)(3) organization – is through a donor-advised fund (DAF). Community foundations and many financial firms offer Donor Advised Fund (DAF) accounts. After you make an irrevocable gift to establish a DAF, you can take an immediate tax deduction, and over time use those funds to support charities you care about.
Corporate Matching Gifts
Did you know that your donation to Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe could be doubled by your employer? Many corporations have matching gift programs. Before you make a donation to us, ask your human resources department if there is a program in place and, if so, how to ensure your gift is matched.
Tribute Gifts (In Honor or Memorial)
For a special occasion or in memory of a loved one who loved the theater, you can contribute any amount to us in their name. We will notify the honoree or their next of kin that you have made a donation on their behalf.
Legacy Gifts Through Your Estate
Gift planning offers you the opportunity to give to the Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe now or after your lifetime, helping you align your charitable giving with your overall financial and estate plans. Many giving options even provide you with financial benefits, so you can leave a lasting legacy to the next generation of WBTT artists and audiences while maintaining the future security of yourself and your loved ones. We encourage you to talk to your financial advisor because with thoughtful planning you can turn personal giving into a creative estate-planning tool that benefits you, your heirs and WBTT. If you do choose to include a gift to WBTT in your estate, please let us know so we can recognize you now as a member of our Friendship Train, WBTT’s legacy donors.
