Ariel Blue performing during the 2016 Young Artist Program

WBTT created the Young Artist Program to provide talented young performers an opportunity to showcase their talents on our MainStage in their own production. The Young Artist Program has featured such WBTT favorites as Ariel Blue (pictured above in her 2016 Young Artist Program), Victoria Byrd, Michael Mendez, Leon Pitts, Neyce Pierre and Earley Dean.

The artists learn the entire process of show production from finding a band, hiring co-performers if desired, and arranging for lighting and sound assistance to marketing and publicizing their show. Throughout the process they are mentored by Mr. Nate Jacobs and the WBTT production staff.

These performances offer audiences a chance to get to know some of their favorite developing performers from our MainStage on a more personal level before they go on to professional careers.

The production costs of the show are underwritten by sponsors. Westcoast Black Theatre offers sponsorship opportunities starting at $100 which provide VIP seating, prominent visibility, and association with your sponsored production.

Net proceeds from the productions are used to further the artistic development of the young artist through professional training, schooling, or meaningful experiences of their choice.
