We celebrated the season with high-spirited, uplifting songs as only Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe's singers, dancers and musicians can perform them! A blend of new takes on traditional holiday, gospel-infused and pop songs, the production offered a joyful, soulful twist on your favorite seasonal music November 29 - December 30, 2023. Singers and dancers were backed by WBTT’s incomparable live band under the musical direction of Matthew McKinnon, with dazzling choreography by Donald Frison.

OCTOBER 5 – NOVEMBER 20, 2022
WBTT presented Tony Award winner for Best Musical, Guys and Dolls October 7 –November 20, 2022. Guys and Dolls tells the story of New York City gambler Nathan Detroit, who dreams of setting up a big dice game while avoiding the authorities – and marriage to his longtime fiancé. Meanwhile, fellow gambler Sky Masterson ends up wooing a strait-laced missionary in a scheme to fund the game. The show features classic songs including Love be a Lady Tonight and Bushel and a Peck.

FEBRUARY 28 - APRIL 7, 2024
On August 3, 1952, the unthinkable happened: a Black woman murdered a white doctor in Live Oak, Florida, guaranteeing a conviction for the woman bold enough to commit such a shocking crime and bringing celebrated writer Zora Neale Hurston to town to cover the story for a northern newspaper. A powerful and haunting world-premiere musical, Ruby was presented February 28 – April 7, 2024.

NOVEMBER 30 - DECEMBER 23, 2022
WBTT lovingly presented its Christmas card to the community, Langston Hughes’ Black Nativity, November 30 – December 23, 2022. Whenever this show is presented at WBTT it is adapted anew by WBTT Founder Nate Jacobs. Black Nativity is a celebration of the nativity story, with gospel, blues, spiritual and Christmas music paired with the poetry of Langston Hughes and the creativity of WBTT. People of all ages enjoyed this high-energy, inspiring show!
