An important part of the Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe’s mission is to continually develop the artistic skills and self-confidence of youth.

In WBTT’s Stage of Discovery summer musical theatre intensive program, a limited number of students ages 11-18 are coached in acting, singing, dancing, improvisation, and writing by creative professionals. They also gain behind-the-scenes

The dates for the 2025 program are June 9 - July 13 with the final show dates being July 12 and July 13, 2025 

Stage of Discovery Audition Options

In-person  auditions will be April 27th, 2025 at 12:00 - 5:00pm

In-person audition preparation:

Short 1-2 minutes monologue and a song.  A dance combination is optional but highly encouraged.

Video auditions deadline is Sunday April 20th, 2025.

We are allowing taped video submissions for those who are unable to join the in-person auditions. Please have auditioners perform a short monologue, a short song and an optional dance combination. There are no limitations for chosen materials. Video submissions with a dance combination should not exceed 5 minutes, and those without a dance combination should not be longer than 3 minutes.

Video audition etiquettes to be mindful of : Clear/non-distracting background and environment. Clear sound and adequate lighting.

A password protected YouTube or Vimeo Links are encouraged video submission platforms.
