Tarra is a favorite of WBTT audiences, wowing fans with her unforgettable roles in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, Ain’t Misbehavin’, Black Nativity, A Motown Christmas and many other shows. She added another feather to her cap — as playwright — when her one-act, one-woman play about Broadway diva and TV star Nell Carter, From Birmingham to Broadway, premiered in May 2022 as part of WBTT’s New Playwrights Series, sharing the stage with another original one-act play, Float Like a Butterfly, about sports and civil rights icon Muhammad Ali.
